An "outstanding" BREEAM rating for
the Buy Way office

To reduce our ecological footprint, Buy Way moved to the brand-new Quatuor building in 2022. This state-of-the-art office building was the first in Belgium to receive an "outstanding" BREEAM rating. This makes the Buy Way offices environmentally friendly, but also a healthy and inspirational place to work.

What is BREEAM and how does it work?

BREEAM stands for "Building Research Establishment's Environmental Assessment Method". It is a comprehensive and internationally recognised system to measure a building's impact on the environment. It evaluates a building's performance regarding:

• Energy and water use
• Internal environment (health & wellbeing)
• Management processes
• Pollution and waste
• Transport
• Materials used
• Ecology

Points are awarded in these sections and added together to give a final rating. Importantly, BREEAM looks beyond operational carbon. It takes a holistic approach to the lifecycle of a building and its environmental, social and economic sustainability performance.

Quatuor: exceptionally high standards regarding sustainability

From the very start of the design phase of Quatuor, where Buy Way has relocated, everything has been conceived to protect the environment and to offer the workers all modern comfort and wellbeing. Independent assessors gave the Quatuor building design a BREEAM score of more than 85%, equivalent to an "outstanding" rating.

Stimulating green mobility

Last but not least, the new Buy Way office facilitates environmentally friendly modes of transport. It is located at only 7 minutes' walk from the Brussels North station and there are metro, bus and tram stops just around the corner. Quatuor has parking space for more than 300 bikes, and if people still want to come by car, 30% of parking spots are equipped for electric charging.
